The Holy Spirit was available in the Old Testament.

by Niall Mc GowanJuly. 05, 2016

Most Christians believe the Holy Spirit was not available in the OT and was only given to man at the time of Pentecost In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit was given selectively and temporarily to certainly people for special ministries.  This is in contrast to the New Testament where the Spirit permanently indwells believers (1 Corinthians 3:16-176:19-20). It was not “all peoples” who received as it is today. Joel told of a time when the Holy Spirit would be poured out on ALL people (Joel 2:28)

Modern Church people cannot see that the Holy Spirit was very busy in the OT and in similar ways as today were the Holy Spirit “led people” “taught people” and blessed and covered His people and so much more.
The Spirit of Yahweh instructs and gives understanding: “The breath of the Almighty gives him [man] understanding” (32:8). King David wrote, “Teach me to do Your will, for You are my Creator; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness” (Ps. 143:10).

Nehemiah said, “You also gave Your good Spirit to instruct them” (Neh. 9:20). Nehemiah understood that Yahweh had removed the Israelites from their land because they had not listened to the Holy Spirit: “For many years You had patience with them, and testified against them by Your Spirit in Your prophets. Yet they would not listen; therefore You gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands” (v. 30).

From the beginning of time, the Holy Spirit was involved. Genesis 1:2 records, “The Spirit of Yahweh was hovering over the face of the waters.”Job wrote, “The Spirit of Yahweh has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life” (Job 33:4). Job also recognized, “By His Spirit He adorned the heavens; His hand pierced the fleeing serpent” (26:13).

Ezra said of Yahweh, “You gave your good Spirit to instruct them” (Nehemiah 9:20). Old Testament believers were enabled by the Spirit to understand what Yahweh said to them, especially through the words of the prophets—even if they refused to listen (Nehemiah 9:30).
In other instances, the Spirit gave instruction to individuals. For example, David gave his son Solomon the plans for the temple “that the Spirit had put in his mind” (1 Chronicles 28:10-12).

The Spirit came upon certain judges, warriors, and prophets in a way that gave them extraordinary power: for example, Joshua (Num. 27:18), Othniel (Judg. 3:10), Gideon (6:34), Samson (13:25; 14:6), and Saul (1 Sam. 10:9, 10).

David’s words in Psa 51:11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy Holy Spirit from me, make sense when you read 1 Samuel 10:5-13, where the Spirit came mightily upon Saul, enabling him to serve as King of Israel. We know from 1 Samuel 16:14 and 18:10 that the Holy Spirit departed from Saul, and was replaced by an “evil spirit”, this evil spirit was part of Yahweh’s judgment upon Saul for his disobedience. Saul had directly disobeyed Yahweh on two occasions (1 Samuel 13:1–14; 15:1–35).
Because Saul was disobedient to Yahweh that means by default Saul was obedient to the devil  so, Yahweh removed His Spirit from Saul and by default  an evil spirit came to torment him.
The Holy Spirit = Yahweh was the ONE who inspired all of the Old Testament prophecy. David said that “the Spirit of Yahweh spoke by me, and His word was on my tongue” (2 Sam. 23:2). Ezekiel said that “the Spirit entered me when He spoke to me” (Ezek. 2:2).
Yahweh The Holy Spirit cannot be in the presence of sin and that is why Yeshua felt the Holy Spirit leave Him when he received on him the sins of the world causing Yeshua to make the statement “why have you forsaken me”.

As with all people from the old testament they were not bought with a price and were not full Sons of God and could still sin in horrendous ways and fall far from The Creator God....
Isaiah prophesied about Israel’s coming Messiah, noting that the Spirit would rest upon Him (Isaiah 42:1). When Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River, Luke says “the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove” (Luke 3:22).
After Pentecost the Bible boldly says (1 Peter 1:23) Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible and the same Spirit that raised Yeshua Saviour  from the dead LIVES IN US Romans 8:11..

We also have not been give the Holy Spirit “”with measure”” as it was in the OT were the Holy Spirit was “ON YOU”” or “”WITH YOU”” THE HOLY SPIRIT WAS “ON” ELIJAH AND HE DID 16 MIRACLES.. TODAY WE ARE GIVEN THE HOLY SPIRIT WITHOUT MEASURE....”He gives the Spirit without measure” (John 3:34).
The phrase “without measure” means there’s no limit to the availability and SCOPE of the Holy Spirit’s power.

It may seem amazing, but the present access to the Holy Spirit of The Creator of all flesh is vast and unending. Despite what we see in modern church.  WE ARE to be Sons continuing the work of Yeshua Saviour  with all Power and Gifts OF and WITH the Spirit of The Creator teaching us ALL THINGS (John 14:26). Since Pentecost Yahweh hasn’t held back any of His Spirit and power from us.....

Elijah the prophet served God between 860BC-852BC THE MIRACLES OF ELIJAH
 1) Causing the rain the cease for 3 1/2 years (1Ki 17:1)

The Creators HOLY SPIRIT IS The Creator AND NOT PART OF ANY demonic TRINITY. Isa 48:8 I am the LORD (YAHWEH): that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images, Exodus 20:5 for I the LORD thy Creator am a jealous Creator. THE CREATOR IS HOLY THE CREATOR IS SPIRIT.

Filled with The Creators Holy Spirit we can overcome sin, have power over the devil and live an abundant life to share the Gospel with others as we manifest the fruits and power of the Creator to be a light on a hill that cannot be quenched

Yahweh The Creator is not a God or god He is The Creator The Holy Spirit Creator of All fleash and the Heavens and earth.
